Coimbra Destinies
This text will be replaced
Coimbra served as Portugal’s capital during the High Middle Ages and is famous for its university, established in 1290, one of the oldest in Europe. Romani mediator and activist Bruno Goncalves takes us on a tour of the city, its open-air market, housing estates and „integration housing”, to discover how the Roma who arrive from Spain centuries earlier view Portugal’s society and their place in it. Young musicians, students, older market sellers, all have their take on Romani traditions, integration into Portuguese society and the effects of the eco- nomic crisis hitting the country on social cohesion and prospects for the future.
