Mundi Romani meets world famous violin virtuoso Roby Lakatos at his home in Waterloo, Belgium. Born in Budapest in 1965, Lakatos descends from the legendary Hungarian gypsy violin dynasty of János Bihari. At age nine, he was already first violin in a band. By nine-teen he won first prize for classical music at the Conservatory of Budapest. He moved to Belgium in the late 1980s and signed a contract with Deutsche Grammophon. Internationally acclaimed, Lakatos still finds time to play at home in Budapest whenever he can. One of his is most recent concerts was held at the world famous Carnegie Hall in New York City.
